Day One : Kampalaa – Bwindii Impenetrable Forest National Park
This morning, you will be met by your driver/guide with whom you will proceed to Bwindii Impenetrable Forest National Park. Have lunch enroute. Bwindi is the home to the few remaining mountain gorillas in the world with over half of them found in Uganda and the other half in Rwanda’s Parc National des Volcanos . Bird life and primate life in Bwindi is quite superb, and there is an incredible variety of flora. Bwindi is the Bird watchers retreat! It holds 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda; and seven red data book species. Once continuous with the forests of the Virunga Volcanoes, Bwindi is now an ecological island, surrounded by cultivation on the rich volcanic soils. You will need a good night rest in preparation for the next day’s gorilla tracking.
Day Two : Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest National Park
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast at the hotel and thereafter report to the ranger station for briefing then proceed with the gorilla tracking where the guides will take you through the forest, slashing at the underbrush, leaving thick creepers, to track gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to five hours thus, a sound degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. You sit in the forest among the gorillas listening to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback. It is astounding to think that there are only 700 or so of these creatures left in the world!
Day Three : Bwindi Forest National Park to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast drive back to Kampala, having lunch enroute arrive later on in the day and be dropped off by your driver/guide at your hotel/place of residence.
