3 Days Maasai Mara budget safari involves 3 days of touring the Maasai mara which is home to the big 5.Located just 260 from Kenya’s capital, lies the Maasai Mara National reserve the pride of Kenya, Africa and the world at large, known for its wild cats,* the big five* and the seasonal wildebeest migration. The Maasai Mara National Reserve borders Serengeti National reserve in Tanzania and together provide a home for over 95 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds. Some of the animals in Maasai mara include lions, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, elephants and zebras.
Highlights
Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara safari
You will be met by a company representative at the hotel/airport followed by a briefing on the journey then you will start the journey to Masai mara. We will have a stopover at the view point where we will be able to have a scenic view of the overlying rift valley escarpment which spreads out the valley below creating beautiful scenery. We will then head out towards Narok town where we will have our lunch before getting on with our journey to the Mara. Upon arrival, we will check in at the camp then have an evening game drive before getting back to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Masai Mara is renowned for its high animal concentration and abundance. Black-manned lions, elephants and buffalo can be seen (3 out of the big 5) though luck is essential for spotting leopard and rhino, which make the other two. The reserve is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and is home to numerous plains game including the migratory wildebeest, the common zebra and the Masai giraffe as well as antelopes like Thompson’s gazelle, hartebeest, impala and Dik Dik among others.
Day 2: Masai Mara Full day
After an early breakfast, you will have a morning game drive which will lead you to the Mara River where you will be lucky enough to witness the spectacular view of the wildebeest migration. The early morning is particularly best for the viewing because the view is much clearer and the herds of wildebeests and zebras moving are also large. We will be able to see the water predators that is the crocodile feasting on the zebras and wildebeests as the cross the predator prone Mara river. The water predators are not the only beneficiaries of the migration but also the land predators, that is the lions, leopards and cheetahs. You will have packed lunch then go on with the game drive before getting back to the Rhino / Manyatta camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Masai Mara to Nairobi
On this day you will have a wake up call as at 0600am and have just a cup of hot coffee and then proceed for the early morning game drive, this early morning game drive will give you an opportunity to see the early morning hunt and the Big five making kills. Then return to the camp for the main breakfast as you prepare to check out the Park. On this morning you will also have an option to visit the Masai Village and be entertained by the Masai Dance, you will also have an opportunity to buy curios and other items from the village at a reduced cost. Then leave Mara and head to Nairobi but stop at Narok for lunch, after lunch proceed to Nairobi arriving late afternoon with a drop off to your hotel.
